Confirmed Everton v Crystal Palace lineups: Gomes handed shock start, Mina on the bench

Everton take on Crystal Palace at Goodison Park this afternoon.

Everton are back in action today, as they host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park – and there is a surprise in Marco Silva’s line-up.

Jordan Pickford starts in goal as usual, with a back four of the returning Seamus Coleman, Kurt Zouma, Michael Keane and Lucas Digne ahead of him.

The surprise comes as Andre Gomes is handed a start in midfield, despite the Portuguese international failing to play a single minute since his August loan move from Barcelona.

Gomes partners Idrissa Gueye in midfield, with the likes of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott ahead of those two sitting midfielders.

Richarlison is therefore given the nod in attack, keeping out Cenk Tosun again as the Turkish international has to settle for a spot on the bench.

Yerry Mina – another August signing from Barcelona – is on the bench, along with Maarten Stekelenburg, Leighton Baines, Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman.

Meanwhile, Palace need to arrest a slump in form, as they have claimed just the one point from their last three Premier League games.

Wayne Hennessey keeps his place despite some calling for summer signing Vicente Guaita to start, with a back four of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, James Tomkins, Mamadou Sakho and Patrick van Aanholt.

Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur and Cheikhou Kouyate feature in midfield, with Jeffrey Schlupp and Andros Townsend supporting Wilfried Zaha.

Guaita is on the bench, alongside Martin Kelly, Jairo Riedewald, Jason Puncheon, Sullay Kaikai, Jordan Ayew and Connor Wickham.
