Here is how Everton’s under-21s will line up against Schalke this evening:
Everton U21s starting XI: Robles, Browning, Oviedo, Kenny, Holgate, Ledson, Grant, Cleverley, Henen, Pienaar, Dyson
Everton U21 subs: Hewelt, Jones, Connolly, Walsh, Williams, Charsley, Evans
Everton have sent out a strong under-21 side to face German side Schalke in the Premier League International Cup match at Goodison Park tonight.
Among those players on show is summer signing Tom Cleverley – who has been out with an ankle ligament injury since September – and South African midfielder Steven Pienaar – who has not featured for Everton’s first-team all season.
Other Everton first-team players in action include Bryan Oviedo and Tyias Browning and they will all be hoping to put in a good performance in order to feature under manager Roberto Martinez in the weeks and months ahead.
Everton’s first-team is currently ninth in the Premier League after they lost 3-0 to Manchester United at the weekend, but they will soon have the chance to get back to winning ways when they travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal on Saturday.
Everton certainly have the players to get the victory there, no matter how hard it will be, and perhaps Cleverley will play his way back into contention this evening.
