Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react after Tim Cahill posted a photo of himself at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Why has this sparked a reaction?

Well, in the background of the photo, Germany international Sami Khedira can be seen watching the Australian contend a header with Bastian Schweinsteiger.

As you may know, Khedira has been linked with a move to Goodison Park.

It was revealed by the Sunday Mirror (03/01) that the Toffees will offer him an 18-month contract if he takes a significant pay cut.

It was also claimed that the 33-year-old flew to England for talks with Everton, having been granted permission by Juventus to do so.

The Stuttgart-born midfielder is having a difficult time in Turin under Andrea Pirlo’s management.

Khedira hasn’t made a single appearance so far this season, and it seems as if the Italian giants are happy for him to leave the Allianz Stadium.

Now, Cahill – a cult hero at Everton – has added fuel to the fire by posting a photo of himself alongside the Toffees-linked World Cup winner.

It could mean absolutely nothing, although a reaction like this is to be expected during a transfer window.

Let’s see what they’ve been saying about the Australian’s tweet…
