Here is how Everton and Sunderland will line up this weekend:
Everton take on Sunderland at Goodison Park this weekend with both sides seeking victories for different reasons.
The Toffees have had a relatively good season to date but they will want to get back to winning ways in the league after losing to Manchester United and Arsenal in recent weeks, while Sunderland will look to build on their outstanding 3-0 victory against Newcastle United last time out.
That result took Sam Allardyce’s side to within two points of safety and victory this weekend will lift the Blacks Cats out of the bottom three. But that will be easier said than done against a resilient Everton side seeking to climb as many as four places in the table themselves.
Everton have a poor recent record against today’s opponents, winning just one of their last five meetings, but away from home Sunderland have struggled, with their only league win in their last 16 attempts coming at…you guessed it…Everton!
This could be a very exciting encounter that both sides will know they have the ability to win, so what chance a score draw?
