England are back in action again this evening, as they take on Lithuania in Vilnius, in their final group game of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
Harry Kane’s last-gasp goal against Slovenia on Thursday night booked England’s ticket to Russia next summer, but a disappointing all-round performance has optimism at a major low right now.
This evening, manager Gareth Southgate has used this dead rubber game as a chance to experiment with his squad, having chosen what appears to be a 3-4-2-1 system.
Stoke City’s Jack Butland comes in for Joe Hart in goal, whilst centre backs Michael Keane, Harry Maguire and John Stones start in a back three.
Kieran Trippier and Aaron Cresswell start at right and left wing back respectively, with Tottenham’s Harry Winks coming in for his England debut alongside Jordan Henderson in the heart of midfield.
Dele Alli returns from suspension, and will join Marcus Rashford and Spurs team-mate Kane in the England attack, with Daniel Sturridge only on the bench.
Goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Fraser Forster are also named as substitutes, as are defenders Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling and Kyle Walker.
Eric Dier, Jake Livermore, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jesse Lingard, Raheem Sterling and Jermain Defoe are also on the bench as England look to end their qualifying campaign unbeaten.
