Celtic will be looking to extend their lead over Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers this afternoon when they take on Aberdeen at Celtic Park in The Scottish Premiership.

Rangers failed to win against Hibernian away from home at Easter Road in the league on Friday evening, and are now seven points behind league leaders and bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic.

A win for Celtic against Aberdeen will see Neil Lennon’s side go 10 points clear at the top, and it is hard to see Rangers catch the Hoops.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has suggested that Lennon will be be given the Celtic managerial role on a permanent basis.

Lennon was recently appointed as the Celtic manager until the end of the season following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Premier League club Leicester City.

The Hoops are doing well under Lennon and have reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

McInnes told The Daily Record: “I’m pretty much sure that Celtic have given him the job until the end of the season with the hope becoming permanent manager could be the outcome.”
