Liverpool take on Burton Albion in the EFL Cup this evening.
Burton Albion will be looking to spring a surprise tonight as they host Premier League giants Liverpool at the Pirelli Stadium.
Nigel Clough – an ex-Liverpool player – takes on his former side this evening, and will be hoping to build on a solid start to the Championship season by knocking Liverpool out tonight.
The Brewers drew 2-2 with Blackburn on Saturday afternoon, and Clough has made five changes as Stephen Bywater, Damien McCrory, Lee Williamson, Calum Butcher and Hamza Choudhury all come in.
Jon McLaughlin, Ben Turner, Chris O’Grady and Matt Palmer all drop out of the side and onto the bench, alongside Ryan Delaney, Ben Fox and Marcus Harness, whilst John Mousinho is out altogether with a hamstring problem.
Meanwhile, a hot-and-cold Liverpool side look to bounce back from Saturday’s 2-0 away defeat to Burnley.
The Reds couldn’t build on their 4-3 win over Arsenal on the opening weekend of the season, and manager Jurgen Klopp needs a response this evening in a potential banana skin tie.
Emre Can returns to the side having been out through injury, and should partner Jordan Henderson in midfield, with James Milner again at left back.
Summer signing Joel Matip starts in the heart of defence with Dejan Lovren as he makes his competitive debut for the club, whilst Sadio Mane is back from injury having missed out against Burnley.
Divock Origi leads the line, with the likes of Alberto Moreno, Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Georginio Wijnaldum all left on the bench tonight.
