Bristol City host Aston Villa at Ashton Gate this afternoon as they take on another of the relegated Premier League teams.

Last week, the Robins hosted Newcastle United and were on the wrong end of a 1-0 result, with Lee Johnson no doubt looking for better this afternoon.

He’ll have to do it without striker Jonathan Kodjia though, who has intriguingly been left out of the squad as speculation links him with a big-money move to Championship rivals Bristol City.

The likes of Aden Flint, Joe Bryan, Lee Tomlin, Luke Freeman and Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham all start, whilst new signing Taylor Moore is on the bench alongside fellow summer arrivals Diego De Girolamo, Josh Brownhill and Callum O’Dowda.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Derby County last weekend and will be looking to take their unbeaten run in the league to four games today.

Roberto Di Matteo has seen his side draw their last two games, and will be looking for all three points this afternoon – and he is able to call upon new signings to aid his cause.

Right-back Ritchie De Laet and midfielder Mile Jedinak both make their debuts this afternoon following moves from Leicester City and Crystal Palace respectively.

Jordan Ayew starts up front in Rudy Gestede’s absence, whilst there are places on the bench for Andre Green, Gary Gardner, Libor Kozak and former Bristol City loanee Nathan Baker.
