Confirmed Aston Villa v Sunderland line-ups: Bruce unchanged as Coleman names first line-up

Aston Villa host Sunderland in the Championship this evening…

Villa continued their strong season with a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon, with Albert Adomah scoring twice to help Steve Bruce’s men come from behind to win.

Villa were impressive in West London, and manager Steve Bruce has unsurprisingly chosen to keep an unchanged side for this evening’s game against Sunderland.

Sam Johnstone starts in goal, with Chris Samba continuing in defence in John Terry’s absence, alongside Alan Hutton, James Chester and Neil Taylor.

Glenn Whelan partners Conor Hourihane in midfield, with Robert Snodgrass and Albert Adomah out wide, whilst Josh Onomah will support striker Keinan Davis.

Jack Grealish is named on the bench, alongside Jed Steer, Ritchie De Laet, Ahmed Elmohamady, Mile Jedinak, Birkir Bjarnason and Henri Lansbury.

Meanwhile, Sunderland have new manager Chris Coleman in charge for the first time tonight, after the former Welsh boss replaced Simon Grayson over the weekend.

Coleman has gone with Robbin Ruiter in goal, with Welsh international Adam Matthews, Tyias Browning, John O’Shea and Bryan Oviedo making up the back four this evening.

Darron Gibson will protect the back four, with young midfielders George Honeyman and Lynden Gooch given a license to go forward.

Aiden McGeady and Callum McManaman both feature out wide, and will support Lewis Grabban in the Sunderland attack, as they look to drag themselves from the bottom of the Championship table.

Jason Steele is on the bench tonight, alongside Tom Beadling, Donald Love, Brendan Galloway, Ethan Robson, Joel Asoro and James Vaughan.
