Aston Villa begin their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Mansfield Town tonight, before Paul Lambert’s side head off to America for matches against Dallas and Houston Dynamo.
Villa have already made three signings this summer, with Kieran Richardson, Joe Cole and Philippe Senderos all arriving at the club.
But this evening is also a chance for a number of fringe-players to stake their claim ahead of what could be a tough campaign for the Villans.
