Here is how Aston Villa and Liverpool will line up for this afternoon’s match:
Aston Villa welcome Liverpool to Villa Park this weekend with both sides desperate for the three points.
Villa are currently bottom of the Premier League and they need to claw back an eight-point deficit to secure their top flight status for another season, while Liverpool have slipped into the bottom half of the table and will want to put that right as soon as possible.
Villa have shown signs of resurgence under manager Remi Garde and they won 2-0 against Norwich City last time out. However they cannot claim to have turned a corner until they go on a run of victories so what chance another three points against the Reds?
Liverpool will still be smarting from their defeat to West Ham United in their FA Cup fourth round replay so expect a reaction from Jurgen Klopp’s men this weekend.
Villa have only beaten Liverpool once in their last 17 league meetings at Villa Park and that was back in 2011.
