Arsenal starting XI: Hein; Cedric, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney; Elneny; Vieira, Odegaard, Lokonga, Nelson; Nketiah.

It’s one of those rare days at the moment where there are no World Cup games – and Arsenal fans will be focusing on today’s friendly with Lyon.

Arsenal stars like Bukayo Sako and William Saliba will be preparing for World Cup games this weekend but for those who haven’t been in Qatar, it’s all about Lyon.

Arsenal are taking part in the Dubai Super Cup, which features Lyon, AC Milan and Liverpool.

The Gunners won’t be taking on Liverpool in this competition and it’s a somewhat interesting format given that there will be penalty shootout after every game whilst a draw earns each team two points.

Arsenal go with Karl Hein in goal this afternoon given that Aaron Ramsdale and Matt Turner are – or have been – at the World Cup.

Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes feature as the centre backs with Cedric Soares and Kieran Tierney as the full backs.

Mohamed Elneny starts in holding midfield with Albert Sambi Lokonga and Martin Odegaard as the advanced playmakers.

Fabio Vieira is seemingly playing on the right flank with Reiss Nelson on the left, whilst Eddie Nketiah leads the line in attack.

It’s a youthful Arsenal bench tonight featuring James Hillson, Taylor Foran, Reuell Walters, Lino Sousa, Matt Smith and Catalin Cirjan.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Ethan Nwaneri, Marquinhos, Charles Sagoe Jr and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.
