Aberdeen take on Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final this afternoon…

Aberdeen and Celtic meet in the Scottish League Cup final today, with the first trophy of the season up for grabs.

Celtic head into the game having lost 2-0 to Barcelona in their midweek Champions League clash, but with just two points dropped in the league this season, Brendan Rodgers has continued the club’s dominance of Scottish football.

Today, Rodgers can win his first trophy as Celtic boss, as they meet Aberdeen at Hampden Park this afternoon, but he’ll have to do it without star winger Scott Sinclair, who misses out through injury.

Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts is in to replace him, and he’ll support Moussa Dembele along with fellow winger James Forrest.

Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic feature alongside Scott Brown in midfield, whilst it’s a familiar back four of Mikael Lustig, Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko and Kieran Tierney in front of Craig Gordon.

That leaves the likes of Leigh Griffiths, Kolo Toure, Callum McGregor and Nir Bitton on the bench, along with backup goalkeeper Dorus De Vries.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen are looking to shock the Bhoys this afternoon, and manager Derek McInnes has gone with both Adam Rooney and James Maddison in the final third.

The Dons also have star players Kenny McLean, Jonny Hayes and Ryan Jack in midfield, with Shay Logan and Graeme Shinnie at full back, either side of Andrew Considine and Ash Taylor in defence.

Jayden Stockley and former Celtic winger Niall McGinn have to settle for places on the bench, and are named as substitutes alongside the likes of Miles Storey, Wes Burns, Mark Reynolds and ex-Rangers goalkeeper Neil Alexander.
