Daniele Faggiano has told TuttoMercatoWEB that Sampdoria are ‘confident’ of agreeing a deal with Inter Milan for the transfer of reported Tottenham Hotspur target Stefano Sensi.
The Blucerchiati have kept pushing for the Italian’s arrival at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris as he is their top target. Some doubts had arisen over the past week that the midfielder may stay at the San Siro beyond Monday’s deadline. But he is still likely to move club during January.
Inter Milan removed their concerns over depriving boss Simone Inzaghi of Sensi and losing key depth on Tuesday, TuttoMercatoWEB report. The 26-year-old is now likely to travel to Genoa on Wednesday to sign his contract with Sampdoria, depending on his medical tests.

Sensi helped forced through a move away from the San Siro after asking the Nerazzurri for permission to leave. Gianluca Di Marzio adds the eight-cap Italy international requested to move on loan this month, having only featured 12 times for 195-minutes so far this season.
Conte to miss Tottenham reunion as Sampdoria near Sensi, Inter Milan transfer
Tottenham have also been in the market for a loan transfer with Inter Milan for Sampdoria target Sensi this month. 90min report Antonio Conte sought a temporary reunion with the Nerazzurri maestro he signed from Sassuolo in 2019 in a €30m (£25m) loan-to-buy swoop.
Sensi featured 18 times, starting four, in Serie A last term under Tottenham’s Conte as Inter Milan won the title. He also played 12 times, scoring three goals and providing four assists, in 2019/20 during his temporary spell. Injuries scuppered his chance to gain more minutes.

Sampdoria should now scupper Conte’s chance of a reunion at Tottenham, as they near a transfer for Inter Milan’s Sensi. But Blucerchiati Sporting Director Faggiano will not count his chickens until a pen has hit paper for the midfielder’s contract.
“As long as there are no signatures, he is always an Inter player,” Faggiano explained. “But we are confident, even if we were last week too. Let’s say we hope he arrives. He is a very important player and has always been our first-choice.”
