Speaking on Peter Crouch’s Podcast, Aaron Ramsdale has been discussing Alisson Becker and his style of play at Liverpool.
The Brazilian, like many South Americans, is a bit of a flair player, but the difference with Alisson is that he’s a goalkeeper.
The Liverpool number one is no stranger to the odd Cruyff turn or stepover, but, of course, when you’re a goalie, there’s absolutely no margin for error when you’re trying these tricks.
Ramsdale admires Alisson’s ability, and he says that he can tell just how much Liverpool’s coaching staff trust the Brazilian to play in his unique way.
What’s been said?
Alisson spoke about his admiration for Alisson.
“Look at Ederson for Man City, the number of times he’s outside of the box playing to his centre-halves and one of his defenders are in midfield. Alisson is not as high but a few years ago he chipped a ball over a striker’s head. That wouldn’t happen and that shouldn’t happen, but he has that confidence and it’s the belief from the coaching staff that he’s been given to say ‘go and play’, I don’t look at keepers in that sort of sense, I look more at their mentality and I look at the best in the world for me, like Neuer, he doesn’t care,” Ramsdale said.

Trusted
Ramsdale can tell just how much Alisson is trusted at Liverpool, and that’s there for everyone to see.
Usually, if a goalkeeper is trying tricks in his own penalty area, the manager and his staff will be bordering on having a heart attack, but at Liverpool, there’s an element of calmness whenever Alisson is on the ball, even if he’s being pressed intensely.
The goalkeeper is as good as any footballer with the ball at his feet, and he’s proven time and time again that he can be trusted to play in this unique way with the ball at his feet.
