Reported Newcastle United and Watford January transfer target Joe Rodon will leave Tottenham Hotspur only if he finds a club where he will play regularly, according to Football.London.

Football.London have reported that Tottenham will consider offloading Rodon on a permanent basis or on a loan deal in the January transfer window.

The report has added that the Wales international centre-back is only ‘interested in moving somewhere he will start matches regularly.’

Tottenham paid Swansea City £11 million in transfer fees for Rodon in October 2020 (BBC Sport).

The Telegraph reported in December that Newcastle, Watford, Leeds United and Brighton and Hove Albion all are interested in signing Rodon this month.

Sensible Tottenham Hotspur stance from Joe Rodon

In our view, Rodon is right to hold out for a move to a club where he would play regularly.

The Wales international centre-back is struggling for playing time at Tottenham at the moment.

The Tottenham no. 14 has made only 13 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

There is no point in Rodon swapping the Spurs bench for another club’s bench.

Rodon is 24 now, and he needs to play regularly at this stage of his career.

Newcastle, Leeds, Watford and Brighton all are good clubs for Rodon to go to and play.

However, the Wales international centre-back has to consider where he would play the most.

Newcastle could do with a centre-back given their problems at the back, while Liam Cooper is out injured for Leeds at the moment.
