Rekeem Harper shone as West Bromwich Albion beat Championship neighbours Aston Villa on Saturday but he’s out of contract next summer.

The fact that Rekeem Harper’s contract at West Bromwich Albion runs out at the end of the season has not gone unnoticed.
At the age of just 18, Harper was thrown in at the deep end on Saturday, starting the derby clash away to Aston Villa. But he produced a masterclass of a performance that belies his years, starring alongside a 37-year-old Gareth Barry at Villa Park.
So, after seeing the likes of Chris Wood, Kemar Roofe and Izzy Brown leave before they were really given a chance to show what they can do, West Brom fans are determined to avoid the same mistake with Harper.

The Birmingham-born midfielder surely won’t be short of offers on the back of a performance that highlighted his potential and maturity in the centre of the park, particularly as he is due to become a free agent in just four months’ time.
So no wonder the supporters are getting worried. Every day that passes, Harper is getting closer to bidding farewell.
Fortunately, Darren Moore told the BBC in January that Harper wants to stay. Maybe it’s time to get that contract printed.
