Celtic have confirmed the signing of Marvin Compper from RedBull Leipzig.

Marvin Compper has told Celtic’s official Twitter account that it took just “two or three weeks” from the Hoops’ first approach to completing a deal to sign the RedBull Leipzig defender.
Compper, 32, has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal, which will see him remain at Parkhead until the summer of 2020. He will join up with his teammates on January 1, 2018.
Celtic had been after a centre-back as pressure continued to grow on the likes of Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata, especially after Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Hearts.

Compper told Celtic’s official website that less than a month after he was made aware of the Hoops’ interest, he was signing a contract to join Brendan Rodgers’ side in Lennoxtown.
“The last half a year I wasn’t playing much at RedBull Leipzig so obviously when you’re not playing you’re on the market,” Compper said. “Celtic recruiting staff we’re looking for an experienced defender that could play their style, so they found me.
“They made the contacts to my agents and it only took two or three weeks to wrap everything up. I’m very glad to be here.”
The defender brings with him a wealth of experience from all over Europe, that has seen him turn out for the likes of Fiorentina in Italy, as well as Leipzig, Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim in Germany.
He will be unavailable for Wednesday night’s clash against Partick as well as the next three games against Aberdeen, Dundee and Rangers, but will be available for the Hoops’ first game after the Christmas break on January 23 away at Partick.
