Some Southampton fans on social media are absolutely staggered at the decision to uphold David Luiz’s bad after Jan Bednarek’s red card was rescinded.
The pair were both sent off on Tuesday evening for very similar incidents against Wolves and Manchester United.
Understandably, both sides appealed what appeared to be contentious red cards, but while Southampton were successful with their appeal, Arsenal weren’t so lucky.
As you can imagine, the decision to uphold Luiz’s ban caught the eyes of some Southampton fans, and they were rather sympathetic towards the Gunners, claiming that they can’t understand why Luiz’s red wasn’t rescinded while Bednarek was let off the hook.
To be fair to Saints fans, we can’t quite seem to understand it either, both incidents look to be almost identical, but the FA have ruled differently.
Sympathy from Southampton fans isn’t likely to make any Arsenal supporters feel any better, but it is interesting to note that the outrage from the Gunners’ fanbase about Luiz’s red seemingly isn’t just born out of bias.
Here’s what Southampton fans have been saying about the decision on Luiz’s red card.
