Everton continued their unbeaten start to life under new manager Sam Allardyce as they played out a 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Goodison Park.
The Toffees have impressed under Allardyce with three wins and a draw from his four games in charge before facing Chelsea, which was billed as Big Sam’s biggest test to date.
However, Allardyce’s men produced a battling display to keep Chelsea at bay, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford making a string of fine saves to prevent the Blues from stealing all three points.
With Allardyce adding another point to Everton’s total, the Toffees are once again upwardly mobile after a tough start to the season under Ronald Koeman, with a host of players starting to regain their best form.
Defender Michael Keane endured a miserable start to the campaign under Koeman, after Everton splashed the cash to lure the centre back away from Burnley over the summer.
Whilst Keane had been largely ponderous during his time with Everton, he was impressive against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, helping the Toffees keep a clean sheet.
Fans took to Twitter after the game in order to praise Keane’s solid performance, suggesting that he was ‘immense’ and even the man of the match, after Allardyce took the decision to start him in place of the ill Ashley Williams.
Many suggested that Keane looked like a ‘completely different player’ under Allardyce than he did under Koeman, suggesting that he could be set for a revival under the new Everton boss.
