John Terry has claimed that Jordan Henderson ‘completely changed the game’ during Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League win against Inter Milan on Wednesday night, as he posted on the midfielder’s Instagram.
The Chelsea legend added ‘love it skip’ as Liverpool gained a massive advantage in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League showdown at the famous San Siro.
On the hour mark, Jurgen Klopp opted to ring the changes by bringing on three players – Henderson, Naby Keita and Luis Diaz.
It changed the game for the Reds, who previously weren’t able to grab the game by the scruff of the neck because of how Inter were pressing and being aggressive in their play.
Henderson’s leadership skills were pretty evident from the get-go by being vocal, speeding the game up, being more direct and more aggressive.
It was a typical captain’s performance from Henderson in the middle of the park and a very hard-working win for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
After the game, Henderson posted the following message on Instagram and Terry issued his verdict on the player in the comments section.
“@Jhenderson completely changed the game mate. Love it skip.”
Whilst it’s only half-time in this tie, Liverpool should still do the job, even if there are no away goals in the knockout stages now.
The Merseyside club are in all four competitions heading into the business months of the season and they should, at the very least, add one more trophy to their cabinet.
The League Cup is the obvious one because they play Chelsea in the final, but they have Norwich City in the next round of the FA Cup, they won’t give up on the Premie League and they have the know-how to add number seven to their Champions League cabinet.
