Nigel de Jong told the Football Show on Sky Sports (10/08/21 at 11:40 am) that ‘every coach’ in the world would want a player like Tottenham’s Heung-Min Son.
The former Dutch international claimed that the Tottenham speedster, who recently signed a new contract, is the ‘complete package’.
There is the fear that Harry Kane, who has returned to pre-season training at Hotspur Way, could possibly leave North London this summer.
And if that scenario were to become a reality then De Jong backed Son to step up and take the reigns in place of the Englishman.
“He is the complete package,” said De Jong. “Every coach in the world of football would love to have a player like him in their squad because he just gives so much energy and intensity every game.
“His workrate is second-to-none as well. I think he’s been set to be the main guy at Tottenham, otherwise, you don’t sign a new deal for five years knowing that Harry Kane wants to move and a lot will be on his shoulders.
“He’s the type of player that loves the pressure. That loves to be the main guy and that’s how he plays as well.
“Most of the games, he is the guy that creates and can score goals – if Kane leaves then he will step up for Tottenham.”

Perhaps one of the most underrated players to have graced England’s top-flight, Son is a player who has showcased it all during his time in the Premier League.
He is a player deserving of a trophy or trophies to his name and he will be hoping it happens under Nuno Espirito Santo’s stewardship.
These are the peak years of Son’s career and Spurs fans will be lucky enough that he showcases them in their colours.
But will those in the North London boardroom bring in enough talent to help players like Son reach the goals of winning a trophy at the club.
