Newcastle United fans have been left frustrated with reports that Paulo Fonseca could now join Tottenham Hotspur.
Fonseca to Tottenham?
The Daily Mirror suggest that Fonseca is very much on Tottenham’s radar as they prepare to replace Nuno, who was sacked this morning.
Fonseca had been in line to get the Newcastle job weeks ago, after emerging as an early favourite following news of their takeover.
The Portuguese boss was interviewed by Newcastle’s board and is thought to have discussed plans for the club’s future.
However, Newcastle have not yet put a contract in front of him.
That has allowed uncertainty to creep in, and it seems that Tottenham could capitalise.
If Spurs move quickly to land Fonseca it could mean that one of the viable candidates for the Newcastle job is taken off the market.
And the frustrations among Magpies fans are now growing after the latest rumour.
Annoyance at St. James’ Park
It has indeed taken some time for Newcastle to make their appointment of a new manager.
Graeme Jones has now been in temporary charge for two games and he has been unable to spark much of an improvement.
Newcastle are now in danger of being cut adrift, as they are winless in 10, and now six points away from safety – and it is imperative that they put a new manager in place sooner rather than later, if they are going to avoid the drop.
