Writing in his column for The Times, Adam Lallana has been discussing England’s midfield that started against Wales.
The Three Lions started an interesting midfield three on Tuesday evening as Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice started for Gareth Southgate’s side.
Interestingly, it may not be long before these three are united at club level as Liverpool have been linked to both Rice and Bellingham in recent weeks, and a takeover could provide the funds to make those signings possible.
Lallana says that this trio actually reminded him of a Jurgen Klopp midfield with their intensity and drive.

Lallana lauds England’s midfield.
The Brighton midfielder spoke highly of the Henderson, Bellingham, Rice combination.
“I outlined earlier in the tournament about what Mount brings to a team, but the way the midfield three of Henderson, Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice complemented each other in the victory over Wales was eye-catching,” Lallana wrote.
“It screamed solidity and intensity. There was a horribleness about England, a ruggedness, that made them difficult to play against. They were always at Wales; harrying and annoying whoever was on the ball.”
“You could see some similarities with how Liverpool were when Jürgen Klopp first came to the club and it is no surprise that should be the case given the inclusion of Henderson in the starting XI.”
Bodes well
This bodes really well for Liverpool if their plan is to sign both Rice and Bellingham.
Indeed, Lallana knows exactly what it takes to play in a Jurgen Klopp team, and if he says that these three look well-suited to that style, then he’s probably right.
Rice and Bellingham would be mightily expensive, but with new ownership potentially on the horizon, the sky may be the limit when it comes to how much Liverpool can spend next summer.
Don’t be too shocked if these three are teammates at club level at some point.
