Gordon is out of contract at Celtic this summer, but the Glasgow giants reportedly want the Scotland international goalkeeper to stay.
According to The Scottish Sun, the Hoops have offered the former Sunderland goalkeeper a new contract.
St. Mirren have also made an offer to the 37-year-old, who is considering his future away from Celtic Park after losing his place in the starting lineup this past season, according to the report.
Former St. Mirren goalkeeper Samson has said that he would love for his ex-club to sign his Scottish compatriot Gordon, but he believes that the Scotland international will be in demand.
Samson told The Scottish Sun: “It would be a massive coup for St Mirren if they could pull off this deal.
“But I know they won’t be the only team trying to get Craig this summer. They will face a lot of competition, and it’s not done and dusted that he’ll be a St Mirren player.”
Celtic dilemma
If Gordon stays at Celtic, then he is likely to be the second-choice goalkeper, even if Fraser Forster is not back from Southampton, as Scott Bain is already at the club.
However, the Hoops are aiming to win the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row next season, and it would be very tempting for the goalkeeper to be part of an historic team.
