Peter Shilton has suggested that Joe Hart can revitalise himself at Celtic, as quoted in The Daily Record.

The Daily Record has claimed that Celtic are interested in signing Hart, who is becoming a free agent this summer after leaving Premier League club Burnley.

The report has stated that Celtic manager Neil Lennon is looking at the former Manchester City goalkeeper as a back-up option should the Hoops not manage to bring back Fraser Forster from Southampton this summer.

Former England international goalkeeper Shilton has raved about his compatriot, and believes that the 33-year-old can get back to his best at the Hoops.

The Daily Record quotes Shilton as saying about Hart: “The last two or three years haven’t been great for Joe but hopefully if he goes to Celtic it will be the start of him coming back and establishing himself again.

“All goalkeepers have their own style and Joe had his but like all goalkeepers you’re judged on mistakes and in the last couple of years Joe has probably made more than in his peak.

“But hopefully if he gets a move to Celtic then that would be the boost he needs as Celtic are obviously the top side in Scotland at the moment and it might be just what he needs.”

Moving to Celtic

Forster was superb for Celtic during his loan spell at Celtic Park this past season, and one can understand why he is reportedly the first-choice goalkeeping target for manager Lennon.

Hart has made mistakes when he has played, and the England international has struggled for playing time for a while.

However, if Celtic are unable to bring in Forster, then Hart would not be a bad option, especially as he is a free agent.

Meanwhile, Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has raved about Jonny Hayes, who left the Hoops this summer and joined Aberdeen.

McGregor told HeraldScotland about Hayes: “He’s a great character who was well liked about the place.

“Jonny is so reliable, you could hang your hat on him, which is exactly what you want in a teammate.

“It was brilliant to see him get sorted so quickly. I thought he would as he’s a top player, but there’s so much uncertainty right now.

“It’s great for him to get his future sorted so soon and everyone at Celtic wishes him all the best.”
