The 48-year-old former Norway international has said that he speaks with compatriot Elyounoussi a lot, and that the 25-year-old is happy at Celtic.
The 25-year-old, who can also operate as a forward, spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan at the Hoops from Premier League rivals Southampton.
According to WhoScored, the Norway international winger made seven starts and three substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic this past season, scoring four goals in the process.
Elyounoussi also scored one goal in six Europa League games, played once in the Scottish Cup, and scored two goals in three Scottish League Cup ties for Neil Lennon’s side this past campaign, according to WhoScored.
According to The Daily Record, the winger is still training with Celtic, with his loan deal set to expire in the coming weeks.
Riseth told The Daily Record: “Moi would be a great signing for Celtic. He’s a top lad. He trains hard as he is determined to be a better player.
“It says a lot that he is still training at Lennoxtown rather than going back to Southampton.
“I speak with him a lot and we had a good chat when I was in Glasgow earlier this year. He is really happy at Celtic – he loves it.”
Back to Celtic?
Elyounoussi had injury problems for Celtic in 2019-20, and his impact on the team, especially in the Scottish Premiership, was not great.
However, in the games in which the winger did feature, he played well, and perhaps the Hoops should try to bring the Norwegian back to Celtic Park on another loan deal next season or on a permanent contract.
