Comparing Victor Moses and Junior Hoilett

Both the Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers players have been linked with moves to Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal.

Who would be the better buy? Both are similar players and we’d be very surprised if the same club signed the pair, yet are among this summer’s most in demand young stars.

Here is what you need to know about the attackers.

Victor Moses

Age: 21

League appearances: 35 (plus two as sub)

League goals: 6

Assists: 1

Pass completion: 81.6 per cent

Preferred position: Winger – Right

Total dribbles: 94

Total shots: 101

Most recent goals: Two against Newcastle in 4-0 win two weeks ago.

Club finish: Still to be determined, but relegation has been avoided.

Cost?: Moses could spark a bidding war after his agent says he wants to move on. He could cost up to £10 million.

Junior Hoilett:

Age: 21

League appearances: 33

League goals: 7

Assists: 5

Pass completion: 79.8 per cent

Preferred position: Winger – Left

Total dribbles: 86

Total shots: 61

Most recent goals: Scored two weeks ago against Norwich in a 2-0 win.

Club finish: Set to finish 19th, relegation confirmed.

Cost?: Free – out of contract.

The statistics show that Hoilett is a more productive player than Moses, contributing to 12 goals rather than Moses’ 7, but the Wigan player stepped up for his club when it mattered consistently over the run in, showing the character to help them avoid relegation- something stats and figures can’t quantify. Hoilett’s shots to goal ratio is also better, Moses took more than 30 efforts this season to score his first goal. Moses though is more willing to shoot than Hoilett and completes more dribbles per game.

Both players are outstanding prospects and are of the same age, and whichever team signs them next season will be fortunate to have them. Hoilett as a free agent is right now attracting huge interest, and is better value because of the fact Rovers will receive no fee for him. This has meant there is more competition for his signature, with even Bayern Munich linked, while the danger for Moses is that Wigan price him out of the market and nobody meets their valuation.

Who would you rather sign for your club?
