Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy thinks his old side look much fitter compared to last season.

Liverpool did not have the best 2022/23 campaign, finishing fifth in the Premier League table, but Murphy is liking what he is seeing from them this term and has highlighted where he thinks they have improved on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel FIVE.

What exactly has Danny Murphy said about Liverpool?

Speaking about Jurgen Klopp’s team, Murphy said: “Liverpool look like they’ve got their mojo back a little bit. They look sharp and fit physically. Compared to last season, forget the personnel, chalk and cheese on the fitness levels.”

Klopp will certainly be pleased with how things are going for Liverpool right now.

The Reds currently sit third in the table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City, and have taken four points from really difficult games against Chelsea and Newcastle United.

The latter they managed to beat with just 10 men and after going 1-0 down, making their 2-1 win at St James’ Park all the more impressive.

Liverpool back to their best again

The Anfield faithful are seeing the Liverpool of old. With Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino no longer at the club, it remains to be seen whether the Reds can score as many goals as they did when they were in their pomp under Klopp.

However, as a whole, they look to be heading in the right direction again.

Liverpool have made some good signings, with one of their new boys, Dominik Szoboszlai, scoring his first goal for his new club just before the international break.

Ultimately, from what Liverpool have shown in this early part of the season, they should be in contention for a Champions League spot come May.
