Every year you get these underrated gems emerging in the Premier League who emerge from the shadows to become bona fide stars.
A few years ago it was John Lundstram, Stuart Dallas took his mantle the next year, while last year was arguably the turn of Brentford’s Christian Norgaard.
It’s a bit too early to bestow that crown on any player this term, but one early contender for the so-called ‘Underrated Star of the Season’ award is Fulham’s, Harrison Reed.
The 27-year-old has been immense in the Fulham midfield, a non-stop Duracell bunny of a footballer, Reed has flourished in a role next to Joao Palhinha that has seen him play as a cross between a box-to-box midfielder and a right-winger.

Reed was unbelievable against Leeds United at the weekend, he grabbed an assist and almost scored his third goal of the season against the Whites, while his defensive contributions were also brilliant.
In fact, Reed was so good that Fulham tweeted a highlights video comparing the midfielder to the great Andres Iniesta.
Reed was immense against Leeds, and there’s an element of irony in that. After all, the Yorkshire club did try to sign Reed last summer after Fulham were relegated.
Reed is now shining in the Premier League while Jesse Marsch’s side are having to field Sam Greenwood as a makeshift midfielder.
Now, we’re not saying that Reed would be the solution to all of United’s problems. They can’t buy a goal for love nor money at the moment and their defence is also way too leaky, but given how the Fulham star has started this season, it’s fair to see that Leeds could really have done with a player like that in the heart of their midfield.
Leeds have missed out on a gem here, and Reed’s performance at Elland Road this weekend showed that.
