Sheffield United had a phenomenal campaign in the Premier League last season. The Blades surprised many and, at one stage, looked favourites to finish in one of the European places.

Sadly for them, an underwhelming run of results since Project Restart pushed them down to ninth in the table. That is still a fantastic achievement for Chris Wilder and his men in their first season back in the top flight.

The Blades will look to have another crack at finishing in the top seven next season but, for that, they will need reinforcements.

Dean Henderson has returned to Manchester United and he has been replaced by Aaron Ramsdale. Wes Foderingham has also come into the club but they will need a few more players to have a real go at improving next term.

Wilder spoke to Sky Sports about possible transfers in the coming weeks and the Blades boss hinted that there could a few more incomings soon.

He said: “We’re getting together, getting back to the swing of things. Not many changes in the squad at this stage. Obviously, we’ve made a major signing to bring Aaron Ramsdale back to the football club and Wes Foderingham as well from Glasgow Rangers. Two additions there, likely to be a few more coming soon.”

The last line there will certainly excite Blades fans. It could mean that Sheffield United are working to complete a few deals before the season starts in less than three weeks.

Ramsdale is a very impressive signing. The goalkeeper was one of Bournemouth’s shining lights in an otherwise dark season which saw them drop down to the Championship.

Henderson was always going back to Manchester United and the Blades have done well to replace him before the new season starts. Wilder is clearly looking to bring in a few more players and, if his hint is anything to go by, there will be new signings soon.
