Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with Gabriel Slonina, but it seems that it is Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea who are about to sign the Chicago Fire goalkeeper.
Earlier this month, The London Evening Standard reported that Wolves are interested in signing goalkeeper Slonina in the summer transfer window.
La Liga and UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid were also credited with interest in the 18-year-old American goalkeeper by the report.
However, it now appears that it is Chelsea who have secured the services of the youngster.
Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter this afternoon that Chelsea and the Chicago Fire have reached an agreement over the transfer of Slonina this summer.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that the teenager will fly to London in the coming hours with his agent.

Slonina will undergo a medical at Chelsea and then put pen to paper on a loan-term deal before going back to Chicago.

Blow for Wolves
In our view, Gabriel Slonina would have been a good long-term signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
That clubs such as Real Madrid and Chelsea are interested in the 18-year-old goalkeeper shows highly he is rated in the footballing community.
Slonina is only 18 at the moment, and he has a very bright future ahead of him.
That future could have been at Wolves, but it seems that it is Chelsea where he will be in the coming years.
Jose Sa is the number one goalkeeper at Wolves at the moment, and he is 29.
