Jose Enrique has claimed on Instagram that he wants Saul Niguez to join Liverpool this summer.
But the former left-back claimed that he doesn’t think it will happen and the Atletico Madrid star will end up at cash-strapped Barcelona instead.
Spanish outlet AS have claimed that Liverpool are interested in bringing the midfield engine to Anfield this summer.
Jurgen Klopp is in need of a fresh pair of legs in the middle of the park after Gini Wijnaldum’s departure and an indifferent 2020/21 campaign.
And whilst Enrique would love his fellow countryman to turn up to Merseyside, this is what he wrote in the comments section of Liverpool Goals Instagram post about Saul.
“I don’t believe we are going to sign Saul,” said Enrique. “It looks like he is going to Barcelona.
“But, hopefully, he will come to us. He is a great player and can play in different positions too.”

Saul’s all-round capabilities in the middle of the park make him a perfect fit for Klopp’s midfield.
His strengths perhaps lie going forward, he has real aggression to his game, ball-carrying ability and the quality to continually play forward.
Aside from the usual suspects, Klopp has options to pick from in midfield, from Alex Oxlade Chamberlain to Naby Keita.
But injuries, lack of game time and lack of form have hurt those players, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Liverpool fans want them replaced.
