It looks like some Arsenal fans are still keen on seeing Houssem Aouar come to the club.

The French playmaker was heavily linked with a move to North London during the summer transfer window.

But despite a couple of failed bids, the Gunners were unsuccessful and wound up signing Thomas Partey for £45 million instead.

That being said, Partey isn’t an attacking midfielder and Arsenal remain keen on the Lyon star if their loan signing of Martin Odegaard doesn’t work out, according to a report from CBS in January.

Aouar helped the Ligue 1 leaders to a victory over Rennes on Wednesday night. And here’s how some Arsenal fans responded to his post-match message on Twitter:

Odegaard has looked decent in English football so far – but only decent.

For a club like Arsenal, they’re going to want exceptional in that position in the long term and if the Real Madrid loanee is unable to provide that level of excellence, the Emirates Stadium side are right to want Aouar.

Fabrizio Romano revealed last August that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and others at the club are ‘in love’ with the player and if that’s true, renewed interest this summer can’t be ruled out.
