Jamie O’Hara dismissed the suggestions that England should perhaps ‘move on’ from Harry Kane because the Tottenham Hotspur striker doesn’t perform in ‘big games’.
This was a suggestion put forward, not just by an England fan, but by a Spurs season ticket holder following Gareth Southgate’s side getting knocked out of the Qatar World Cup to France.
With Euro 2024 just 18 months away, O’Hara pointed out Kane’s ‘excellent’ form in the Middle East, whilst former Chelsea man Jason Cundy thinks there isn’t anybody to take his place for Euro 2024.

Kane didn’t score during the group stages, as the Three Lions romped through, but despite that, he was still one of Gareth Southgate’s better players.
But when the knockout games came around, the ball started to hit the back of the net, it was just unfortunate for him that the most crucial of goals didn’t go in, and instead, it ended up in the stands.
Nonetheless, when the ‘moving on from Kane’ suggestion was put on the table, both O’Hara and Cundy had a simple response, as they told talkSPORT.
“Hold on,” responded Cundy. “Hold on, what?!”
Tottenham fan: “How many big games has Harry Kane delivered for Spurs or England?” to which Cundy responded, “How many big games has he played in for Spurs?”
O’Hara added: “He has played in a few finals, I understand. But come on! He is the best striker we have got. What are you saying? Dropping him out of a big game? He has been excellent at the World Cup. What about the Euros, it’s in 18 months.”
Cundy responded: “Who would you play ahead of him? Who is the next cab off the rank in terms of England strikers go? There isn’t one.”
O’Hara added: “For me, Harry Kane is still one of the best strikers in the world. He has had an excellent World Cup. He’s missed a penalty. I am not here to dig out Harry Kane, that’s for sure.”
KANE IS STILL A KEY FIGURE FOR CLUB AND COUNTRY
That penalty miss nightmare won’t go away until Kane puts it right, and that’s winning a major tournament with his nation.
What won’t help matters is that when Hugo Lloris returns from the World Cup, it will only provide flashbacks for Kane as he sees his club teammate on the training pitch.
But, he needs to put all of that behind him now because Antonio Conte’s side have a fight on their hand to maintain Champions League football for next season.
