Everton fans have taken to Twitter to question Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to leave Anthony Gordon out of his squad to take on Manchester United.

The academy graduate was nowhere to be seen as the Toffees sunk to a 3-1 defeat to the Red Devils at Goodison Park, despite taking the lead.

Gordon played 32 minutes of Everton’s recent defeat to Southampton, where he showed some directness and urgency in attempting three dribbles throughout his cameo, as SofaScore shows.

The 19-year-old is an exciting young option who some supporters clearly want to see out on the pitch, so you can understand their frustration when he wasn’t even named in the squad.

Gordon has made 16 appearances for the Toffees first-team in total, but he clearly has a bit more work to do to impress Ancelotti seeing as he didn’t even make the bench today.
