Leeds United fans are excited amid suggestions that they could play in the Champions League next year, following the formation of the European Super League.

Six of the Premier League’s leading clubs announced their plans to join the newly formed competition last night, which leaves their futures very uncertain.

It also puts Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds side into a position where they could be propelled up the table.

UEFA are to meet to discuss the possibly penalties for teams looking to join the European Super League today.

Already points deductions have been talked about, which would benefit Leeds in the short-term.

If the big six are all deducted points, then Leeds are one of the top four of the ‘other’ sides in the Premier League.

That would see them jump up into the traditional Champions League places.

And some Leeds supporters are now dreaming of playing in next season’s Champions League, after the bombshell news.

Whether Leeds will be pushed up the table still remains to be seen.
But the punishments for clubs joining the Super League are expected to be harsh.

And the impact this could have on Leeds in both the short and the long-term could be vast.
