BBC pundit Chris Sutton has spoken on Stadium Astro about Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of winning the Premier League this season.

Spurs have had a tremendous start to the campaign. Sitting on top of the league having lost just once and with serial winner Jose Mourinho at the helm, many feel Tottenham can stay there until the end of the season.

However, Sutton laughed off the suggestion. The former Chelsea man believes Spurs rely way too much on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min and, if the pair get injured, they will fall away.

He said: “They’re not going to win it, come on. It’s not going to happen.

‘It’s a strange season. My tip for the title are just coming good – Manchester City. I believe Pep has a point to prove. Jose Mourinho has been a brilliant manager over the years but there are better squads out there than Spurs.

“They are too reliant on Harry Kane and Son. Injuries to them and they will fall away. (Mourinho) is still a great manager. He’s gone to Spurs and the fans are desperate for a trophy. Mourinho is a serial winner. I tip Spurs for the Europa League, not the Premier League.”

Just qualifying for the Champions League would make it a successful season for Tottenham – but they are capable of so much more. Mourinho tactically outclassed Guardiola a week ago and his side did well at Stamford Bridge too.

Kane and Son are undoubtedly Spurs’ two best players and their contribution to the team is one of the biggest reasons why Spurs are on top of the league. However, there are others who can chip in with goals.

Lucas Moura is a quality player on his day, as is Steven Bergwijn. Gareth Bale is slowly getting back to his best and, once he is ready, we all know what he’s capable of.

Summer signing Carlos Vinicius has also impressed when given a chance this term. Winning the Premier League won’t be easy, but it’s possible. However, Spurs fans may not be fussed even if they end up with just the Europa League title this season.
