Newcastle United fans have urged Adam Armstrong to come back, after he scooped two prizes at Blackburn Rovers’ end of season awards.
Armstrong, who came through Newcastle’s academy, won Blackburn’s player and goal of the season titles – after what has been the best season of the youngster’s career to date.
The 23-year-old has developed into a real threat at Championship level, after being given regular game time at Ewood Park.
And Newcastle fans would now like to see Armstrong brought back to St. James’ Park for next season.
Armstrong left Newcastle in 2018 after struggling to break into Rafael Benitez’s first-team plans.
The attacker was always regarded as one of Newcastle’s better prospects, but moving away from Tyneside does seem to have helped his development.
Armstrong actually could enhance the attacking quality available to Steve Bruce’s side if he was to re-join the Magpies.
Newcastle have struggled for goals all season, but Armstrong has hit the back of the net 15 times in 45 matches for Blackburn in the second tier.
