Tim Sherwood has claimed that Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane were ‘combining like a telephone box’ during Tottenham’s 5-0 thrashing of Everton on Monday night, as he told Premier League Productions.

The former Spurs boss also praised Dejan Kulusevski’s performance, as he provided two assists against Frank Lampard’s men.

Heading into this match, Antonio Conte and his players were coming off the back of getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship side, Middlesbrough.

But, the start in which the home side made last night, you would have thought they have been flying high recently because they put three goals past Jordan Pickford inside the first half.

Nonetheless, Sherwood feels Conte got his game plan ‘absolutely right’ whereas he thinks Lampard had an evening to forget.

“Antonio Conte, he got the game plan absolutely right,” said Sherwood. “They just sat in there and they didn’t get carried away in taking the game to Everton. They didn’t need to.

“Harry Kane and Son down the pockets. Kulusevski was good. And they popped it around – Frank (Lampard) got it all wrong. But you have to give Tottenham credit.

“The dynamic duo in the middle of the park, they are combining like a telephone box. Creating a melee and space out wide. The burst of space from Son and the Kulusevski finds the right pass (for Reguilon’s goal).”

The next stop for Spurs is a crucial away clash against their fellow Champions League-chasing rivals, Manchester United.

The last time the London club were on the Old Trafford turf, they put six goals past Manchester United.

It was a memorable afternoon of football for Spurs, but that’s when Jose Mourinho was in charge and now Conte will be looking to make his mark.

At the rate Tottenham have been going in recent weeks, they will probably lose the fixture because they have been up and down for a while now.
