Tottenham star praised for ‘impeccable’ display.
Tottenham Hotspur handed a first start to record signing Davinson Sanchez against Everton and he did not disappoint.
The centre-back helped Spurs keep a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory and looked rock solid in the process.
The Colombian international looks like a shrewd signing and his performance has drawn praise back in his homeland.
Colombian outlet Futbol Red wrote a glowing review of Sanchez’s first Tottenham start and praised his display as ‘impeccable’.
Sanchez was commended for a ‘great performance’, with the review of his game lauding him for demonstrating he has already adapted to English football.
El Espectador wrote: “The London club came with a team of three defenders. Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen. They played as if they knew each other’s life, and were synchronised and ironed in defence.”
The Ajax connection may play a part in that, with Sanchez having the instant trust of his new teammates as he recently starred for their former club.
RCN Deportes raved: “Safe, fast, unpassable.Dávinson Sánchez shone on Saturday in his first game as a starter with Tottenham.”
It was a brave move from head coach Mauricio Pochettino to start Sanchez in such a big game, just days after he had played a World Cup qualifier for Colombia against Brazil.
He played impressively against Brazil and has carried that form on with Spurs.
It will be hard for Pochettino to drop him against Borussia Dortmund this week in the Champions League.
