Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra, according to the Athletic.

With Kalvin Phillips joining Manchester City and Raphinha seemingly heading for an exit this summer, Jesse Marsch and the Whites’ hierarchy have acted swiftly to bring in reinforcements.

Raphinha scored 17 Premier League goals during his two seasons at Elland Road and replacing the Brazilian’s threat and goalscoring prowess is crucial for Leeds ahead of the new campaign.

Fellow South American Sinisterra had an impressive campaign with the Eredivisie giants, scoring 23 goals from 49 appearances.

But it looks like the former Once Caldas man, who has spent four seasons in Rotterdam, will be following his teammate Tyrell Malacia, who will become Erik ten Hag’s first Manchester United signing, to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old, who is capable of playing in any position across the forward line, produced the best season of his career and it looks the five-time Colombian international is heading for West Yorkshire.

Leeds have already signed three players in this window — Marc Roca from Bayern Munich and Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson from Red Bull Salzburg.

With Sinisterra, who could become Leeds’ latest signing from Eredivisie, seemingly England-bound, HITC Sport takes a look at the Colombia players who shined in the Premier League.

Following his big-money move from Argentine giants River Plate in January 2001, the Colombian striker who became Aston Villa’s record signing spent six years at Villa Park before heading to America with New York Red Bulls.

In 205 games for the Villains, Angel scored 62 times with his best goalscoring campaign coming in 2003-04 where he netted 16 Premier League goals and scored 23 times across all competitions.

Only two players have scored more goals for Villa in the Premier League era than Angel, those being Dwight Yorke (97) and Gabriel Agbonlahor (74).

The mercurial Colombian, who endured his fair share of controversy during his time on St James’ Park, had two seasons as a Newcastle United player from which he scored 18 goals and provided 19 assists from 63 matches.

Asprilla, who scored 20 times from 58 caps for Colombia, re-joined Italian giants Parma following his spell on Tyneside and won the UEFA Cup for the second time with the club.

Rodallega spent three-and-a-half years at Wigan Athletic following his arrival from Mexican side Necaxa in January 2009.

He scored 24 goals for the Latics from 116 appearances before heading to Fulham where he scored 20 goals from 88 games.

Rodallega’s winner on the last day of the 2010-11 season at Stoke City ensured Roberto Martinez’s Wigan side stayed in the Premier League.

Colombia’s most expensive player of all-time only had one full season at Everton before departing for the Qatar Stars League.

But the attacking midfielder shined on Merseyside under Carlo Ancelotti, who managed Rodriguez at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

In 26 games for the Toffees, the playmaker scored nine goals and laid on nine assists, averaging a goal involvement in every other game, but he didn’t form part of Rafa Benitez’s plans at Goodison Park.

Luis Diaz

What a start to his Liverpool career the former Porto man has had. With Tottenham hoping to land the Colombian winger, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds acted swiftly and signed Diaz for an initial £37.5m in January.

The 25-year-old hit the ground running and finished the campaign with an FA Cup and League Cup winner’s medal.

After scoring 14 goals in the Portuguese top-flight prior to moving to England, Diaz would score six goals and establish himself as a key part of Klopp’s Liverpool side.
