Stan Collymore has suggested that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery would love to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The former Villa striker has written in CaughtOffSide that Emery would relish the chance to work with Chelsea striker Lukaku for the next two or three years.

The 29-year-old striker is on loan at Italian giants Inter Milan from Chelsea at the moment.

The former Manchester United star joined Inter on a loan deal in the summer of 2022.

The £350,000-a-week (SalarySport) Belgium international striker is scheduled to return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of the season.

And Collymore believes that Villa should try to bring Lukaku to Villa Park.

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery tipped to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku

Collymore wrote: “The same can be said for Aston Villa – would Unai Emery want two or three years working with Lukaku? – I think he probably would.”

Summer transfer unlikely

In our view, Aston Villa are unlikely to be able to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

We do not think that the striker would be keen on a move to Villa.

Yes, Villa are a big club and are going places under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, but they are not going to play in the UEFA Champions League or challenge for major honours anytime soon.

Lukaku is used to playing in Europe’s premier club competition and competing for league titles.

So, we do not think that a move to Villa would appeal to the striker.
