Stan Collymore says he hopes to see Daniel Sturridge sign for a club like Southampton, West Ham United or even Everton.
Pundit Stan Collymore has told The Mirror that he would like to see Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge sign for Southampton, West Ham, or even local rivals Everton.
Sturridge has struggled for first-team football so far this season, starting just four Premier League games so far this term as Jurgen Klopp has gone with Roberto Firmino as his leading striker.
The 27-year-old England international has yet to open his account in the Premier League this season, but he has scored four goals in just two EFL Cup appearances, whilst his goal for England against Scotland on Friday showed that he can still produce in front of goal.

Having played such a bit-part role at Anfield this term, speculation unsurprisingly surrounds Sturridge’s future. According to The Mirror, Stoke City and West Ham United are both keen to sign Sturridge, despite huge figures being quoted; a £28m transfer fee and £120,000-a-week, his current wages at Liverpool.
Sturridge may well attract January interest, but whether he moves on is another matter – and former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has now had his say on Sturridge’s future.
Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge celebrates scoring
Pundit Collymore told The Mirror that he thinks Sturridge is ‘unlucky’, in that he’s now played for three huge clubs – Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool – without being able to settle under a manager.
Collymore added that he he hopes to see Sturridge make a move to a Premier League rival who will definitely pick him as their first-choice striker, and suggested three possible destinations for the striker.
Collymore tipped Southampton or West Ham as good homes for Sturridge, before suggesting that a move to Everton could work well – which would of course be a hugely controversial move given how few players make the move across Stanley Park from Liverpool to Everton and vice versa.
Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge
“Sometimes in football you can be a lucky player, or an unlucky player,” said Collymore. “Steven Gerrard was unlucky in that he stayed loyal to Liverpool and didn’t win a league title, while Demarai Gray joined Leicester as a rookie and won it in his first season. Sturridge, unfortunately, comes into the unlucky category.”
“He has been at three big clubs but under various managers at each has never really found a home. If he does have to move on in the summer then I hope he will join a club who won’t have the luxury of not picking him as their first-choice striker… a Southampton, a West Ham, even an Everton. Because we cannot afford to mess about the sort of talent he is on the basis of what he can’t do rather than what he can — which is score goals by the shedload given half a chance,” he added.
