West Ham United should give Slaven Bilic full control over transfers, according to Stan Collymore.

Pundit Stan Collymore has told The Mirror that he would give Slaven Bilic total control over transfers at West Ham United in order to really judge him as a manager.

The Hammers were thrashed 5-1 by London rivals Arsenal on Saturday evening, in a result which has piled the pressure on beleaguered boss Bilic.

The Croatian guided West Ham to a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League last season, but this term has been a complete disaster for Bilic and the Hammers as their dream move to the London Stadium had quickly become a nightmare.

West Ham lie just one point and one place above the relegation zone having won just three of their first 14 games this season, picking up just 12 points in the process.

In fact, West Ham are just three points ahead of bottom club Swansea City, and with title-chasers Liverpool to come this weekend, the situation is looking dire for the Hammers right now.

Whilst some are calling for Bilic to go, he has been left helpless given that so many of the club’s summer signings have made little to no impact in East London.

The likes of Alvaro Arbeloa, Arthur Masuaku, Havard Nordtveit, Gokhan Tore, Sofiane Feghouli, Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri have all struggled to make any sort of impression in claret and blue.

Now, pundit Stan Collymore has told The Mirror that it’s whoever is responsible for transfers, not Bilic, who is culpable for West Ham’s struggles in the Premier League this season, and the former Liverpool striker went on to make a shock suggestion.

Collymore believes that, whoever made West Ham’s summer signings should be sacked, even though it’s believed to be co-chairman David Sullivan who oversees transfers, and manager Bilic – who is in danger of being fired himself – should be given total control over transfers to really prove himself as a manager.

“Slaven Bilic might be feeling the heat at West Ham, but whoever is responsible for their summer signings is really culpable for their league position,” said Collymore. “Name me ONE arrival in the last transfer window who has made a difference — well, a positive one.

“I’d get rid of whoever is identifying their new recruits and give Bilic total control. Then we can really judge him,” he added.
