Would Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey be a good signing for Everton in the summer transfer window?

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has suggested to BBC Radio Wales that Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey should move to Everton in the summer transfer window.

Ramsey has been on the books of Arsenal since 2008 when he joined from Cardiff City for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport at the time to be worth £5 million.

The Wales international midfielder’s current contract with the Gunners runs until June 2018, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Collymore believes that Ramsey would be a good signing for Merseyside outfit Everton in the summer transfer window.

“In terms of Aaron Ramsey where he should go, I mean, off the top of my head, Everton,” Collymore told BBC Radio Wales. “They have got money, very good manager, has a track record already of putting his arm around players who perhaps were a little bit disaffected in getting the best out of them.

“He is starting to get the best out of Ross Barkley. They may well lose Romelu Lukaku, so they are going to need a big name to come in, and I think Ramsey would go some way to help that. They need a freshening up of the midfield because Gareth Barry is now getting older, and it’s a big old club like Arsenal whereby the expectation to perform is great.

“So for me, I think that hand in glove Aaron Ramsey with Everton. He would play lots of games, he would be pushing towards European football and, like I say, the most important thing for any player, you know and I know, is to feel wanted and to play lots of football matches.”

Ramsey is a very good midfielder, but he is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup at Arsenal at the moment.

The 26-year-old has been able to play only 16 matches in the Premier League so far this season, while during the 2015-16 campaign, he scored five goals and created 37 chances in 31 league games.

Arsenal are a bigger club than Everton, but it would not be a bad idea for Ramsey to make the switch from the Emirates Stadium to Goodison Park in the summer.

The Toffees are an ambitious club and are aiming to break into the top four of the Premier League in the coming years.
