Mark Urbanek shares what it’s really like working with Collin Morikawa. In the last year or so, Collin Morikawa has seen more changes in caddies than he has putters.
Over the years, Morikawa has gained a reputation for being one of the tougher players to work with on tour.
The two parted ways in May after seven years together, a split that marked another change for Morikawa.
A few weeks later, he brought in Joe Greiner, who had previously worked with Max Homa.
But that partnership was short-lived, ending after just five weeks. Billy Foster even stepped in for a couple of weeks during July to fill the gap.
It wasn’t until August 2025 that Mark Urbanek took over as Morikawa’s new caddie. That partnership led them to an impressive win at Pebble Beach under tough weather conditions.
Urbanek played a key role during that final round, and now he’s offering some insight into what it’s been like working alongside Morikawa. “I didn’t find him too hard at all,” said Urbanek. “He was great.”
Collin Morikawa’s caddie reveals what sets his golf game apart

Morikawa was in sensational form throughout the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, and it was the kind of performance that really played to his strengths with an iron in hand.
One moment that stood out came on the final green, where he nailed a 4-iron after standing around for 20 minutes. It wasn’t just a great shot – it was one of those moments that showed why he’s so highly regarded.
Speaking to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, Urbanek shared what it’s like being inside the ropes with Morikawa during a week like that. His praise reflected just how impressive Morikawa can be when everything clicks.
“Like, when somebody that’s an elite ball-striker as Colin is, when he’s on his game, and you have a front row seat, it’s like it’s hard to put it into words.
“Honestly, you feel like you’re playing a video game and you better not be wrong with what you’re saying to him because it’s going to do exactly what he says it’s going to do.
Urbanek pointed out how precise you need to be working alongside someone with Morikawa’s accuracy. Even small mistakes can have big consequences, especially on courses where every detail matters. It shows just how high the level is at this stage of the game.
Mark Urbanek reveals what stands out most about Collin Morikawa’s game
Morikawa looked sharp all week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, especially with his iron play. The 4-iron he hit into the final green, after waiting nearly 20 minutes in the fairway, summed up his form.
Speaking to SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio, Urbanek shared what it’s like to be on the bag for Morikawa.
“It’s scary to watch, honestly,” Urbanek said. “Like, when somebody that’s an elite ball-striker as Colin is, when he’s on his game and you have a front row seat… it’s hard to put into words.”
“Honestly, you feel like you’re playing a video game and you better not be wrong with what you’re saying to him because it’s going to do exactly what he says it’s going to do,” he added. “So you know you’ve got to be on point at all times with everything.”
Urbanek also noted just how precise Morikawa needs him to be with every bit of information.
“Every degree of wind difference — if you’re just slightly off — those things matter a lot,” he said. “Especially when the greens are half or even a third the size of some we see on tour.”
Morikawa made things look easy last week in California thanks largely to his approach play. If he can improve around the greens and with his putting this season, Scottie Scheffler might have some real competition before long.
