The Rangers legend has commented on Joe Garner’s start.
Rangers legend Colin Stein has told The Daily Record that he was initially unimpressed by summer signing Joe Garner.
The English striker joined Rangers back in August for a reported £1.5 million, according to The Scottish Sun.
The 28-year-old netted on his full debut for the Gers – the 5-1 demolition by Celtic at Parkhead – but a six-match barren spell soon followed.
But the former Preston North End forward is in fine form at the moment and he has netted in each of his last games, against St Johnstone and Kilmarnock.
And although Stein admits to The Daily Record that he was underwhelmed by Garner early doors, the Rangers legend, who spent a total of seven years at Ibrox across two spells, says that he now looks a completely different player.
“Garner didn’t look up to much at first but he’s been playing well in the last two or three games. He’s managed to get a few goals now and he looks a different player,” he said.
“That’s the beauty of scoring. When you’re putting the ball in the net your confidence is sky high.
“When you’re struggling for confidence you sometimes take that extra touch that allows a defender to step in. He’s up and running now and is looking like he can do a job for Rangers.”
Mark Warburton’s side are second in the Scottish Premiership, but they have most likely already hit their ceiling this season. Celtic are nine points ahead of them, with a game in hand, and it seems wholly unlikely that any side are going to catch the Hoops on current form.
