It looks like Rangers might be closing in on the signing of Ryan Kent.

According to The Scottish Sun, the Liverpool starlet will undergo a medical with Rangers on Monday ahead of a season-long loan at Ibrox.

For the 21-year-old midfielder, it is the chance to turn over a new leaf after a difficult six-month loan with Championship side Bristol City last season.

Rangers were reportedly battling Blackburn Rovers for his signature, and one Bristol fan claimed that the Ewood Park side had been given a “massive escape” over not signing him.

However, former Gers and Scotland defender Colin Hendry, who spent two years at Ibrox, has defended Kent on Twitter:

Kent’s confidence has more than likely taken a knock over the past six months, but what a chance he has under Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool icon was one of the greatest midfielders of his generation and playing under the 38-year-old could be the ultimate tonic for the youngster this season – if a move materialises.

It seems like a switch to Rangers is imminent, but it is the transfer window after all and a deal is never done until it is.
