Colchester United praised Leeds on Twitter after their under-23’s beat them 2-0 to secure the Professional Development League North title on Monday night.
The club’s official Twitter account also honestly praised the Whites supporters for backing their youngsters all the way as they clinched the title with a few games to spare.
Rivals Burnley suffered a defeat earlier on in the day against Bristol City which meant the Yorkshire club could seal the crown with a win at Colchester…and they did just that!
Striker Ryan Edmondson was the star of the show for Carlos Corberan’s side as he netted both goals on either side of the break.
There is no doubt if the Leeds youngsters continue in their ways then there will be plenty of opportunities for them to prove their worth in the senior side.
Marcelo Bielsa has proven throughout this campaign that he is willing to give the younger players a chance as is proven with the rise of winger Jack Clarke.

Nonetheless, the first-team will be looking to take inspiration from what the youngsters have produced and seal their own fate as the best team in the Championship.
At this moment in time, they are sitting third in the table, one point behind second-placed Sheffield United and five points behind leaders Norwich City with eight games of the season remaining.
At the weekend, they will host relegation-threatened Millwall at Elland Road. If they can secure a win and other results go their way then they will move back into the top two.
